Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror in the Hatchet Series. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures and his rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. The film features Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow as well as Rileah Vanderbilt in the role of Misty.
The film's main strength lies in its use of practical special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a lot less CG effects than other horror films. This allows for some truly terrifying moments to be captured in the movie.
Kane Hodder stands out as an formidable villain. The cast provides an impressive performance. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher film. It's funny and funny enough. There are also some really funny moments throughout that offer some humor in the midst of the terrifying action.
The problem is that the budget is extremely limited (reportedly $1 million), most locations that are featured in the movie are re-used locations from earlier films in the series. For instance, the same boathouse was used twice within the movie. Many of these locations seem like they were reused from previous films from this series. It's almost like it's familiar to viewers who have seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2.
Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable although it was Hatchet 3 movie review like the previous entries in the series. It provided lots of thrilling thrills and entertaining performances by the cast members.
